Application due June 1, 2026

Before reading this message, I invite you to pause for a moment. Scroll up to the radiant photo of our dear friend, Andrea Halverson, and take in her brilliance..Thank you..Andrea first came to Yess Yoga in 2015. As a lifelong best friend of Anna Befort, she was already deeply connected—and from the moment she arrived, all of us have been changed by her presence. Andrea began attending our women’s circles, which meant she was immediately drawn to community, depth, and honest connection with herself and others. She was a joy to sit in circle with, always willing to walk alongside others through both the beautiful and the challenging aspects of life. Whenever Andrea joined, we knew there would be wisdom, compassion, and love.

Her desire for growth—a core part of who she was—continued when she completed our teacher training in 2017. It quickly became clear that her classes would be authentic, thoughtful, and sincerely supportive to our community. Andrea went on to teach classes, workshops, and series that included traditional yoga, astrology, and tarot. Everything she offered was infused with soul and care. She even led a module in our teacher training. Andrea was a true leader at Yess. Her heart was deeply woven into this community, and her love has been dearly missed since her passing in 2024.
Even as I write this, tears come. She was magic. She is magic. And we love her fiercely.

To honor Andrea, we co-hosted a celebration of life at Yess with Anna Befort, Jessa Walters, Wendy McCully, and more than 40 others who gathered to share memories and love. Andrea’s parents, Sue and Jan, her sister Jessica, brother-in-law Derrick, and niece Grace joined us and shared tender stories from her early life—stories that reflected the bright, extraordinary person we all knew. In the time since, Sue, Jan, and I have become dear friends. Over tea and conversation, we have walked together through the pain of this loss—just as Andrea would have wanted.

This winter, Sue and Jan chose to honor Andrea by supporting Yess through a scholarship in her name. What an incredible gift. And truthfully, I feel certain this is exactly what Andrea would have wanted—to pass it forward, to welcome more people into the depth of the yogic lifestyle and the richness of this community.

We are honored to share that the Andrea Halverson Scholarship will support community members in completing Yess Yoga’s 2026–2027 fall/winter teacher training. This scholarship is made possible because of the generosity of the Halverson family. Thank you Sue, Jan, Jessica, Derrick and Grace. We are forever grateful to share our vision of an inclusive and compassionate world.

Our intention is to offer this scholarship to students who have an established yoga practice but face barriers—financial, geographic, or systemic—to accessing teacher training. This includes individuals from communities that have been historically underrepresented in yoga spaces, including BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals. Our goal is to help diversify the voices of those who teach yoga and to expand access by supporting teachers within a wide range of communities.
