What a stunning time of year to slow down and treasure the people, places, communities, cycles, memories, and traditions that you hold close to your bodies (koshas). I love this season: where there is a transition to routines and it’s still so vibrant and alive. September always feels like a beautiful balance of consistency and spontaneity. A much deserved season of harmony. To have more compatibility, I have been reflecting on how I want to spend my time.
Recently our family took a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and had the most stunning adventure. On our way out, we portaged next to another group who were so eager to hear from the kids about their time in the great north. They listened with joy, then one experienced traveler told the kids about a boulder, a water pattern, and some animals that made them totally in love with the experience of being alive. It was then that I realized this time of year is so sweet because it’s transitional nature slows me down. It reminds me to treasure the summer, the warmth, the full fridge of fresh veggies, and to look towards the future with those focused dreams.
